Jelgava county-Rundal in wheelchair and deaf
This time, let's go to Rundale castl and Jelgava.
We'll start the tour with a view of the exhibition and garden of the Rundal Palace.
The exhibitions of the Rundal Palace Museum reflect topics related to the history of the castle, the family of the Duke of Kurzeme, the oldest stage of the history of art in Latvia, artisanal crafts and garden art, as well as municipal and festive developments during various periods of history. Part of the exhibitions are included on the viewing routes of the castle or are considered as a free addition.
Garden History
The park is planned to the south of the castle, including a nearby forest whose high trees formed an impressive background for only the 10-ha regular French garden. The Rastrelli project, with its intricate alleys, boxed and pergolese network, looks remotely like the build-up of Versailles Park.
During the second construction period of the castle (1763-1768), works in the park continued. Fountains pools were created in 1767, a pond dug in 1768 for supplying canals with water. Around 1777, two orchards, a hop garden and a “Wine Mountain” have been installed, and apricot and peach gardens in 1787. From 1774 to 1781, a coughing wall was built around the park.
Abgunstes manor
Abgunstes Manor is for decades a hidden treasure with years of hundreds of old stories and thousands of stored forces. The building of a manor built on seven sites is a place for veracity and creativity to restore previously unexperienced feelings.
